The Short-Term Rental Project

During the summer of 2016 the City of Nelson engaged in a four-month project to revisit the way we handle short-term rentals (STRs). The project included consultation, education, and new regulations effective January 2017.

We had an outstanding response to our first round of online surveys, with some 350 people responding. The report of the public survey can be downloaded here: public survey report – web. The survey of STR operators was mostly intended to find out more about how they manage their STR. The results report is available here: STR hosts – web.
